The Wings of Imagination
A Silent Book Between Reality and Dream
This Silent Book was born from a journey through Peru and Bolivia. Two particularly significant experiences during this adventure sparked a series of reflections that eventually transformed into the creation of this book.
The first episode took place during a long wait at the border between Peru and Bolivia. There, a visibly emotional Peruvian man shared with us that this moment marked his first time leaving the borders of his country. He was about to fulfill a dream that many of us, accustomed to traveling, take for granted.
The second moment was an encounter with a group of Peruvian children on the shores of Lake Titicaca. They were curious about Italy and the world beyond Peru. They shared their dreams of becoming tour guides, of traveling, and of discovering new horizons. For many, travel remains a distant dream, something experienced more through imagination than reality.
It is precisely these reflections that form the foundation of my Silent Book's story. Like the Peruvian myth of Yakana, the sacred Inca llama that appears in the nebulas of the night sky, my story takes shape without words, leaving room for those who browse through it to bring it to life with their own imagination.
Each person can interpret the illustrations as they wish, assign names to the characters, and tell the story in their own voice. The young protagonist travels around the world in a single night - who knows if it is all real or just a product of her imagination? To complement the book, a short animation that brings together all the illustrations, accompanied by a beautiful soundtrack, offers an even more immersive visual and auditory experience.
