Elle Effe Elle
The Book-Swap Spaceship
"Elle Effe Elle: The Book-Swap Spaceship" is a book I wrote in rhymes and entirely illustrated digitally, created to support the LFL project: "Little Free Library, Take a Book, Leave a Book!". This project aims to encourage the habit of reading, turning each encounter with a book into an unforgettable journey.
The story follows the adventures of Bi and Ci, two friendly aliens who, while observing Earth from their distant, emotionless planet, discover a mysterious and powerful object: the book. This small treasure, capable of conveying an infinite range of emotions, becomes their goal. Determined to bring a copy back to their planet, Bi and Ci embark on a mission to discover what a book truly has to offer.
Designed for young readers, this tale is not only an exciting journey through unknown worlds but also a simple and fun guide to understanding the purpose of the Elle Effe Elle spaceship and how to use it. Through the illustrated pages, young readers are invited to explore the importance of reading and the magic of book swapping.
The Elle Effe Elle in the story is inspired by the real structure designed by Officina Idee and created by Modulor and Metal Arredo. This spaceship is a piece of design: a transparent dome encloses a circular shelf on which books are placed, supported by telescopic steel legs. Its circular shape not only minimizes the presence of sharp edges but also stimulates curiosity, inviting readers to duck under the spaceship to discover the hidden treasures within. The transparency of the dome allows natural light to filter in, creating a magical atmosphere that transforms each reading session into an adventure under the stars, as if you were truly aboard a spaceship ready to explore the universe.
This book is not just an invitation to read, but an intergalactic journey through the imagination, where books become the true protagonists, capable of transporting us to emotions and adventures without limits.
