Puss in Boots
A Chromatic Journey Through a Classic Fairy Tale
This project represents a graphic reinterpretation, infused with my personal style, of Charles Perrault’s classic fairy tale, Puss in Boots. My intention is to bring this wonderful story to life through the pure power of images, which, in a fluid and harmonious sequence, narrate every twist and turn of the tale. The thread that connects the various scenes is provided by chromatic variations—a play of colors that guides the reader on a visual and symbolic journey.
This symbolic reading of images and colors not only allows children to interact with the characters of the fairy tale and understand its meaning, but also helps them develop a sensitivity to color. Every shade, every tonal variation becomes an integral part of the narration, offering an emotional dimension that goes beyond words.
The story comes to life on a large A1 sheet, which, with skillful cuts and folds, transforms into a small book—compact and unique, without the use of glue or bindings. This booklet can be easily leafed through, but it can also be fully unfolded to reveal the entire illustrated scene in all its magnificence. Along the bottom edge of each scene, a small text accompanies the reader in both Italian and English, adding another level of understanding.
This experiment in chromatic interplay is a small personal project, a tribute to the inherent beauty of the fairy tale and to the magic that only visual art can evoke.
